Is Jesus a Prophet?
Is Jesus a Prophet?
Islam teaches that Jesus is not the Messiah but a prophet, while the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel teach that Jesus is more than a prophet.
Which is correct?
First, Jesus Christ is not just a prophet; He is fully God and fully man. This means Jesus is both completely human and completely divine, and He has always existed as God. In contrast, the prophets in the Bible and the Quran were humans who received revelation from God but were not considered God themselves.
Is Jesus God?
Jesus said,
Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, before Abraham was born, I am.”
John 8:58, Bible, Holy Scripture
Jesus Christ supported this claim with miraculous signs and wonders. He performed many healings and other miraculous acts that no prophet could do, including raising the dead and walking on water.
Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”
Luke 7:14, Bible, Holy Scripture
No other prophet has done the same.
Jesus Christ also fulfilled more than 300 prophecies concerning His coming. These were written centuries before Jesus Christ actually existed. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, and rose again.
Moreover, Jesus’ teachings and actions were different from other prophets. He taught God’s love and grace, and demonstrated that love by dying on the cross for our sins.
In conclusion, Jesus is not merely a prophet. He is both fully human and fully God. He claimed to be God and proved it with miraculous signs. He fulfilled over 300 prophecies written centuries before His birth and taught things that no prophet before or after Him taught.
