KNOWING GOD
GOD’S PURPOSE: ETERNAL LIFE
God loves you and He has a purpose for creating you. This purpose is for you to know Him, and to have a personal and eternal relationship with Him.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
THE PROBLEM OF HUMANITY: SIN, SEPARATION FROM GOD, AND SPIRITUAL DEATH
People do not turn to the eternal life God offers because they choose to go their own way and fall far short of God’s perfect standards. This rebellion against God is called ‘sin.’ Sin separates us from God and prevents us from having a relationship with Him. Sin is so contrary to God’s perfect nature that it deserves the greatest punishment: death and eternal separation from God.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
GOD’S SOLUTION: JESUS CHRIST
We cannot approach God by our own imperfect efforts. Therefore, God Himself chose to pay a perfect price for sin. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die in our place and be the bridge between humanity and Himself. We can only come to God on His terms.
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
YOUR PERSONAL DECISION: REPENTANCE (CONFESSION OF SIN) AND FAITH
To start a new life God gives, you must turn away from your old sinful life and accept the sacrifice Jesus offers. Salvation through Jesus Christ is a free gift. Accepting Him is an act of faith.
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
IF YOU ARE READY TO TRUST JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, YOU CAN PRAY THIS PRAYER:
“Lord Jesus, I have lived my life my own way and sinned against You. Have mercy on me and forgive my sins. I believe You died for me and rose again with power, victory, and authority. You have the power to give me new life. Thank You for making me a child of God. I dedicate my life to You and Your purposes. Give me courage through the Holy Spirit to share my faith with others. I offer this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
- Send us a message. Tell others that you have trusted Jesus Christ. This will strengthen your decision and encourage you to live a changed life.
- Start praying. Prayer develops your relationship with God and helps you grow in faith with His power and guidance. REMEMBER! Prayer is our only communication tool with God.
- Read the Bible regularly. This helps you know God better and discover His purposes for your life.
- Join a church or Bible study groups online or in person. Being part of a group committed to Bible teaching helps your spiritual growth, responsibility, and using your spiritual gifts for God’s glory.
